You have a LARCH. Larches have their needles <span class="highlight">in</span> <span class="highlight">clusters</span> of many needles. These soft, needle-like leaves are shed each year <span class="highlight">in</span> the fall so the tree appears bare, except for the cones, through the winter. There are many larch species including the Tamarack (eastern larch), western larch, European larch, and subalpine larch.
