The problem is that the possibilities for this technology were greatly reduced from the start by the producers of violence who managed to scuttle any idea of a content based rating system that would actually allow parents to make judgements on the basis of violent content. Instead, only age guideline ratings are broadcast for most programs. Why did the producers do this? One can only speculate
